Avera Linear Accelerator Addition

This $5 million addition to the Avera Prairie Center includes the installation of a new linear accelerator vault. A cutting-edge cancer treatment, a linear accelerator delivers highly precise radiation to target tumors while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. To safely house this advanced medical equipment, the vault is being constructed using Veritas ultra high-density shielding blocks, creating 2-foot-thick radiation-resistant walls. This project also includes new office spaces to support clinical staff and operations. Built on geopier deep aggregate foundations, this specialized 2,000 sq. ft. addition enhances patient care by increasing access to life-saving treatment in a safe, controlled environment.
