USD National Music Museum

The renovation and addition provides modernized facilities to house the National Music Museum’s world-class musical instrument collection in a secure, environmentally controlled setting that provides the museum staff with improved working conditions. The addition provides an ADA accessible entrance to the museum and more secure storage for the most priceless of instruments. This project also created a rotating exhibition room, a new concert hall with state-of-the-art recording technology, and family-friendly areas where instruments can be demonstrated and played by young people. Renovation of the Carnegie building provided a much-improved heating and cooling environment for the safety of the instruments on display, and creates new gallery space to open up for new exhibits. The renovation consisted of 28,500 sq. ft., and new build added a total of three stories and around 17,000 sq. ft.
