SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - On Wednesday, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue and The Journey Group were able to refresh their skills and learn some new ones together.

Journey Group conducts quarterly crisis drills to enhance preparedness, identify potential vulnerabilities and ensure swift and coordinated response to unexpected challenges or emergencies.

There was a simulated fire, which is why Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was involved.

“Training exercises or scenarios like this are really good for our firefighters just for the simple fact that it gives them a little more real-life feel to things. This is a full construction project, and you go inside and you’ve got the framing and all that stuff, and it gives them a different feel than what normal training we do,” said Steve Fessler, division chief for SFFR.

The training was held in downtown Sioux Falls at a construction site.
